Deep Thoughts

Maybe, if I was to create a major work of art, I would do it as some kind of technology + art hybrid. Like that guy that makes a factal generating music application, that translates mathematic equations into fractally composed electronic music. I say “electronic” here because in practice it wouldn’t necessarily need to sound electronic, but simply because it would be generated by a computer. You start with three things (3 is the magic number kids) - an input, a function and an output. Which came first? It’s anybody’s guess. You then generate a fractal image based on this initial information. Then, music is generated from the fractal image. So in this respect, the fractal is itself a program (when I say “program”, I mean more specifically a function). The music is composed based on the type of equation it’s given (exponential, geometric, etc) it’s combination of variables, and its input/output. For example, it could translate an equation, such that the the starting input value (integer) defines the tempo. The equation (it’s type, relative complexity), defines the intruments. The variables (their count, their values at certain states, their complexity [power]) define the notes. Etc. What I’d be designing is the platform essentially, where upon an infinitely diverse array of musical output could be generated. That output defined by the laws of mathematics. Maybe I could be that guy. *

Some idea’s I’ve had lately:
The government is able to monitor our personal locations, at any time, anywhere, by our cellphones. Or, more specifically, the modern prevalence of GPS enabled cellphones. Because the government can access privately held phone records (yo patriot act) they have the dataset such that if they wanted, they could generate a program for this kind of monitoring, relatively easily. They definitely have the resources at their disposal. If you were ever on the run from the law, I’d advise you to ditch your cellphone at square one.

I’m not afraid of what will or will not happen to me after I die, I’m just afraid I won’t be able to finish everything I feel I should do.

I remember having some profound notions over the last couple days, but I can’t remember what they are.

Oh yeah … I feel that architecture is the highest form of art. That architecture is the foundation on which all other art rests (the pillars, if you will). It is the architecture that defines a society. Art is based in the context of society. The architecture that is the most powerful is that which best reinterprets nature. Louis I. Khan is one of the greatest artists in the history of mankind.

* That guy doesn’t actually exist yet. I am in reality “that guy”. If you steal my idea and actually develop this (which I encourage you to do, if I don’t then get around to making it [which is possible], i feel someone should) - please credit me as “executive producer”.

I think the data set is far too large - any program would be unable to be specific enough. The fact that you can get a new email address - anonymously - in seconds and purchase disposable cellphones renders those who want to be “off the grid” fully able to do so. If you’re a common criminal, the government doesn’t receive sufficient beenfits from catching you. If you’re a drug kingpin (or in a barely more paranoid world than which we live in today - a dissenter) you could get and likely will get busted via technology. That is the prime reason to conspire and discuss all your crimes in person (still risk a wire) or not at all.

I bet I just got No Such Agency on me because I thought about this. Booyah.
