Despite having no concrete plans in advance for the fourth of July, we certainly made the best of it. In the early afternoon I geeked out on Beatbots a bit (implemented Google search on the site!), then Jakuta and Jess came by around five. Inebriates were inebriated, then we ventured over to Wyman Park Dell for some bocce ball action.
It sprinkled a bit while we were playing, but it was still really fun. When the rain got too bad we played under a larger cluster of trees. After three short games, we stopped in at Rocky Run for a bit to eat. It was my first time there, and despite my preconceptions of the place, it was a really great spot to get food. The decor is a little corn-ball, but it was fun (and one of the only spots still open, within walking distance).
After food we came back to my place for a bit, watched some Mr. Show, then headed over to Matt’s to catch the fireworks from his rooftop deck. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving at Matt’s, the rain started. It was a torrential downpour for about 30 or so minutes, so we all hung out on Matt’s awesome front porch and drank some beers. After the rain calmed (to a light drizzle), we all went up on the roof with a huge umbrella to see what we could see. Despite the rain, people were setting off fireworks all over the city. So there we stood, in the rain, under one umbrella, on Matt’s roof, watching the fireworks. It was nice (despite the wetness).
Drunk and tired, we all parted ways around 10:30. Raven and I walked back to our place and proceeded to pass out around 11:30. :D
