Ok so I tried to log into Blarg a few days ago and it was totally fuxed and I couldn’t log in. Now, magically, it’s working again. Oh Blarg, how I missed you. A lot has been happening, so here goes, in no particular order:

Dead Venues is launched. Possible mention of it in the Sun this weekend.
Had an awesome weekend at the beach house with Raven and the fam.
Geoff and I settled on Soft Cement as our band name. We’re done recording the EP and only have one more mixing session. Packaging is gonna be tight.
I launched the super secret Beatbots Digital. Currently hosting the Small Sur album and soon hosting the Soft Cement EP (Think About It).
At work I’m redesigning the UI for Cellblock and it so far it looks mad sexier. We’ll be launching that some time next week probably.
Speaking of work. Big things in the haps with NBC / UNIVERSAL.
In an effort to get more involved with the IRL, I’ve joined up with the kids at the Hexagon Space. I’m real stoked on it. I’ll be working on the space, book shows, web programming, promotions, etc.
September 8th is my 27th birthday. Feel free to buy me something awesome.
September 13th I’ll be running a Beatbots booth at Hampdenfest (”MEATROTS”). If you have a tent that you’d like to lend me, holler!

In other news, I was watching the Obama speech tonight and who should I see on the TV in the audience, but sis Caitlin McD. Surreal!

A Crash Course in Flash Programming

In just a little over two weeks time I’ve gone from a hack Flash developer to a serious ActionScript Guru. Shez and I worked closely together to get a ton of new functionality into the Cellblock player. For this, she hooked up the Cellblock API on the back end and I took that information and ran with it on the UI. I’m really super excited to release this awesome new player to the world.

Some of the awesome new stuff you can do with the Cellblock player:

View the thumbnails for the Cellblock
Get image and video URLs / embed code for each item of Cellblock content
Log into the player!!!
Turn preview mode on or off in the player
Approve new incoming content in the player (if your Cellblock is in preview mode)
Moderate already accepted content
Make photos and videos visible / invisible
Edit captions for photos and videos

This is some really serious shit. If you have a Cellblock, just click on the Menu then “Login” to test drive some of the new owner functionality. We just released this like 15 minutes ago … time for a nap. :)

Beatbots + Cellblock = Photo Message Boarding

A few weeks ago, we introduced a new Cellblock API, which allows third party web developers to power mobile photo / video blogging on any website, using Cellblock’s technologies. I wanted to give this new technology a test drive on Beatbots.com, so I created a nifty little message board widget that allows people to post photos to the message board in real time from their cell phones or desktop email clients. I’m interested to see how people will take to it.
