Metal Gods
Metal Gods is a new feature film by Baltimore director Matt Porterfield, of Hamilton fame. Matt and his crew are currently in pre-production for the film – casting, scouting, and fundraising. They’re off to a good start – some awesome Baltimore, indie, and international film people have signed on, and fundraising is progressing – but they need to raise a lot more awareness and a lot more capital before they can being shooting in August.
Since Matt and his crew are bypassing some of the traditional film industry and making their movie here in Baltimore, there is a big grass-roots element to the fundraising plan. I’m trying to help spread the word to help Matt raise more money and awareness for the film.
Please feel free to pass this on to anyone else who might be interested, or who may want to become involved as an investor or donor for the film. Help keep great arts projects like this in Baltimore. You can find out some more info about Metal Gods on the website, including video clips from Hamilton, press, and info on investing and PayPal donations (even amounts as small as $20 are appreciated!)

Soft Graffiti
Check the refresh on Raven’s blog: Soft Graffiti. I’ve been on a design kick the last couple weeks and felt inspired to give it another pass. I finally got the domain resolved and now I’m learning how to customize the Thematic Theme Framework. Super easy!

Think About It
You can listen to my band’s new EP Think About It on our new website: http://softcement.com
If you like it, you can pick it up at one of the mentioned locations or at any of our shows.
I started a petition to bring back the BMA film series. Please take a second to sign it and spread the word. Even if this isn’t enough to sway the BMA, it might help to persuade another venue to pick it up.

Edit: Read what the Baltimore City Paper has to say about the petition on their Arts and Minds Blog.

A lot has happened since the last post. I won’t try to recount everything, but here are a few of the more noteworthy happenings, in no particular order. Obama got elected, Beatbots turned 4, I got a gym membership (but didn’t go much in December), I put some new stuff on Hexplosion, the Soft Cement EP is almost in the can. Beyond that, lots of good times with friends and family. I’ve been going through a lot of self-examination these last few months, and I can’t help but feel like something next-level is materializing.
Here’s to making it happen in 09! Stay positive!
